I began my career as a high school social studies teacher, eventually serving as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for a high school, after over a decade in the field. I then shifted her focus to DEIJ organizational assessment, strategic planning, coaching, and curriculum design/professional development in the private sector. I served as Vice President of DEIJ at a PR firm, counseling C-suite executives on DEIJ matters as an executive coach and was a co-founder and CFO of the Wells Collective, a team of passionate equity practitioners that specialized in helping organizations, schools, and businesses become stronger stewards of anti-racism, equitable leadership, and social liberation in their communities. I am now Vice President of Professional Learning and Growth at the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the nation's largest association of educator preparation programs.
I hold a B.A. from Duke University, an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction: Minority & Urban Education from the University of Maryland; and an Ed.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Teacher Education from the University of Florida, where I also was an adjunct professor. I am a SHRM-CP and holds certifications in Diversity and Inclusion and Human Resources from Cornell University. I am planning to earn my Project Management Professional (PMP) license this year. I am a fierce Black mama of two and a proud Caribbean girl. I love my babies, my culture and my Disney+ subscription.
