Hey! I’m Sasha Rhee, and I am so honored and excited to be a Class of 2027 Baldwin Scholar. I was born in Los Angeles but was raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. I am a proud Korean-American, and my mom, dad, and younger brother, Nick, continue to support me from back home as I navigate my journey here at Duke.

I plan on double majoring in economics and political science with the Ethics & Society certificate. My academic interests lie in the realm of economics, finance, DEI work, and ethics. I am passionate about connecting these four disciplines because I believe that they all need each other in various aspects, and I hope to explore the ways in which ethics and DEI can be promoted in and improve the finance industry. Women in finance have historically been silenced, and I want to help change this.

Outside of academics, I have a range of interests and hobbies. One is that I really enjoy exercising! I grew up with two CrossFit parents, so CrossFit and weightlifting have been two major influences in my life. I also enjoy running, especially because it is warmer for much longer in Durham than New Jersey.

I am a big sports fan as well, and I will always cheer my heart out for Duke basketball and Michigan football. One of my favorite things to do is go watch Duke play live at Madison Square Garden in New York City when they visit. Some of my other interests include listening to music, scouring my Pinterest, traveling, online shopping, going on walks, and trying new Korean restaurants.

It is truly an honor to be a part of the amazing Baldwin community, and I am very grateful that I get to be surrounded by so many wonderful women for the next four years! I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
