Hey! I’m Sasha Rhee, and I am a Class of 2027 Baldwin Scholar. I was born in Los Angeles but was raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. I am a proud Korean-American, and my mom and dad continue to support me from back home as I navigate my journey here at Duke.

I am majoring in Economics with a political science minor and Ethics & Society certificate. I am passionate about connecting these four disciplines because I believe they all need each other in different ways, and I hope to explore their intersections through my future career. My mom is my inspiration (and best friend and role model) because she trailblazed her own path in an industry where not many look like her, and I continue to carry her guidance and lessons with me as I navigate the next chapter of my life.

Outside of academics, I am a part of a few other organizations on campus, including our Asian Students Association, Business Oriented Women, Scale & Coin, and The Chronicle advertising team. In my free time, I like to do pilates, listen to music, scour my Pinterest, travel, shop, and try new Korean restaurants. My younger brother goes to Duke as well, so we’re huge basketball fans and love to go to Cameron every chance we get.

Overall, what I’ve learned over the past three years is that Baldwin is a special place, community, and second home here at Duke, and I am very grateful that I get to be surrounded by so many wonderful women. Baldwin has truly been a pillar of my Duke experience, and it brings me so much joy to be a part of this group.
