Hey! I’m Sasha Rhee, and I am a Class of 2027 Baldwin Scholar. I was born in Los Angeles but was raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. I am a proud Korean-American, and my mom and dad continue to support me from back home as I navigate my journey here at Duke.
I am majoring in Economics with a political science minor and Ethics & Society certificate, and my academic interests lie in the realm of economics, finance, DEI, and ethics. I am passionate about connecting these four disciplines because I believe that they all need each other in different ways, and I hope to explore the ways in which they can intersect in my future professional career. Women in finance have historically been silenced, and I want to help change this.
Outside of academics, I am a part of a few other organizations on campus, including our Asian Students Association, Business Oriented Women, Scale & Coin, and The Chronicle advertising team. I think each of these groups has played a unique part in my Duke experience so far, and I’ve really enjoyed working with and helping them grow. In my free time, I like to CrossFit, run, listen to music, scour my Pinterest, travel, online shop, and try new Korean restaurants. My younger brother, Nick, also goes to Duke, so my family is huge on Duke basketball - one of our favorite things is watching them play in Cameron and MSG back home.
Overall, it is truly such an honor to be a part of the amazing Baldwin community, and I am very grateful that I get to be surrounded by so many wonderful women! Baldwin has been a pillar of my Duke experience, and it brings me so much joy to be a part of this group.
