Hey!! My name is Nusaibah Kofar-Naisa and I am a proud member of both the Baldwin Class of 2012 and the greater Baldwin family. For starters, I am a Muslim-Nigerian-American who grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. However, I believe strongly in not trying to mold myself into any specific title/category. Sure, there are certain characteristics that play a part in making up your identity, but in the long run, we are not defined by these classifications. Rather, I believe that we must look to qualities that make up our thoughts and actions if we truly want to "find our place" in this world. It is for this reason that I strive to look past what people may appear to be on the surface and aim to make stronger, deeper, and more meaningful relationships with the individuals that I encounter. Consequently, I chose to apply to the Baldwin Scholars Program as a way of broadening my network of friends on campus. That was honestly one of the best decisions I made my freshmen year. Not only did I befriend a great group of brilliant and beautiful women, but the program has far surpassed my expectations and has blessed me with people that I will forever continue to call my sisters. I strongly encourage you to apply!

I am currently taking some time off before pursuing a PhD in Political Science. I am spending the summer as the Producer of the 2012 Students of the World National Team. Following that I'll be moving to Nigeria for a year to continue research that I started during my time at Duke.

If you have any questions at all, or would just like to get to know me better, please do no hesitate to email/facebook me! I love hearing from new people :) I will leave you with one of my favorite quotations:

"He who is not courageous enought to take risks will accomplish nothing in life" -Muhammad Ali
