Hi! I’m Natalie Song and I’m so grateful to be a Baldwin!
I grew up in Ridgewood, NJ in a big Chinese American family, composed of my two older brothers, my parents, and my grandmother. My family members are the most important people in my life, and I’m definitely missing our Sunday morning family brunches here at college! But, because my older brother graduated from Duke and my twin brother is here with me, Duke and home still feel synonymous.
At Duke, I’m planning on majoring in economics, minoring in political science, and pursuing a certificate in documentary studies. My passion for business and political science come from my mom, as she’s successfully navigated the field of finance as a first generation immigrant while being a survivor of 9/11 and the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, so I’ve always been inspired by her resilience and determination to overcome adversity. My interest for documentary studies comes from my passion for film. I’m a big film fan who keeps up with the Oscars every year and hopes to one day combine my passion for film and business by working for the film financing industry.
Besides watching movies (independent ones are my favorite), I love to play basketball, go on walks, and try new restaurants in my free time. I’m a big advocate of supporting female sports specifically as they are oftentimes underfunded, ignored, and criticized, and walks and trying new restaurants are activities that I love to do with friends and family.
Overall, no other college offers a place like Baldwin, so I’m incredibly honored for the opportunity to be part of such a special place!
