Hi! My name is Marylove Ogunro, and I am beyond excited to be part of the 2029 Baldwin cohort and to join such an incredible community of talented, inspiring women!

I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I grew up loving snowy winters and lake-filled summers. I come from a diverse cultural background, being half Nigerian and half Scandinavian, and attended a Chinese immersion school throughout elementary and middle school. These experiences shaped my deep appreciation for cultural diversity and learning from people with different perspectives.

In high school, I was actively involved in leadership, especially in roles centered on empowering young women. I served as an affinity group leader for Black middle school girls and led my school’s Girl Up chapter, experiences that strengthened my passion for advocacy, leadership, and community-building.

At Duke, I’m currently planning to double major in Economics and Sociology, pursue a minor in Chinese, and complete the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Certificate, though I’m always open to exploring new paths wherever my curiosity takes me!

Outside of academics, I love tapping into my creative side through filmmaking and photography. When I’m home (and have more than just a dorm kitchen), you can usually find me experimenting with new recipes.

I’m so excited to learn, grow, and collaborate with the amazing women around me, and I hope to make a meaningful, positive impact on the world together!
