Marie Wilson was the president of the Ms. Foundation for twenty years and co-founded Take Our Daughters to Work Day.  She is also the author of Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World.

Marie Wilson was the founder and CEO of The White House Project, a national, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that aims to advance women’s leadership in all communities and sectors, up to the U.S. presidency.

The Vote, Run, Lead! initiative focused on the critical need for women’s voices in the political arena.  Ms. Wilson explored the deeply ingrained political, social, and cultural factors – including the media – that support resistance to women at the top.  She makes clear that the issue isn’t a personal one about women’s ability to lead; it’s about a common perception that men are leaders and women are not.
