Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Lucy McKinstry graduated in 2010 with distinction in Political Science.
Lucy is now a second year law student at Columbia Law School. Most recently, Lucy worked as an intern to the Honorable Jennifer B. Coffman, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. At Columbia, Lucy is a member of the Society of International Law and Law Women's Association.
Lucy's undergraduate thesis was entitled: "Bringing Globalization Home: The Judicial Use of Foreign Law in the U.S. Supreme Court." She has maintained an interest in this topic during law school and continues to produce scholarly work on the subject. As her Baldwin internship, Lucy worked for the Hague Institute for the Internationalization of Law. While at Duke, Lucy also was involved in the Duke University Chronicle, as a member of the Editorial Board, the Duke Women's Mentoring Network, Tri Delta sorority, and Duke Student Government, as a Vice President for Student Affairs.
The Baldwin Scholars Program played a defining role in my Duke career, and I strongly encourage all first-year women to apply. For me, Baldwin provided an cornerstone and support system for my growth at Duke and beyond.
