Hi! My name is Juliana Vegalara and I am so excited to be a Baldwin Scholar in the class of 2027. I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. Colombia has taught me many things that have shaped me into who I am today. From its diversity, I have learned to be unique, by being a leader instead of a follower. From its progress from violence to peace, I have learned determination, persistence, and solidarity. The idea that I can achieve something if I set my mind to it. From its difficulties, I learned to be giving and grateful. But most importantly it inspired me to want change and to be proud of where I come from.

One of my favorite things to do is to rewatch old movies and reread books, as I find it fascinating the new things you notice a second time around. I love the adrenaline you get from solving a puzzle, listening to music and trying new recipes. I am a strong advocate for justice in my community and feel inspired by the strength of others. I am undecided regarding my major but I am passionate about international relations, technology and business.

As a Baldwin Scholar I hope to continue to learn from those around me, as I believe that listening to others' experiences is the best way to grow as a human being.
