I plan to double major in sociology and psychology. My passions in these fields include research on sexual assault, sexual health, and reproductive justice. Specifically, I’m interested in researching the psychology behind Black maternal health and sexual assault in Black families. After Duke, I plan on attaining my Ph.D. in research discussing one of these fields.
If seen around campus there is a 99.9% chance I have on headphones and I am listening to music. This is because I have a deep love and appreciation for music, especially in the genres of R&B, rap, and neo-soul. My favorite artists include SZA, Brent Faiyaz, Cleo Sol, Frank Ocean, Young Nudy, J. Cole, and many others.
In high school, I played basketball, softball, and volleyball at a highly competitive level. However, in college, I’ve been taking a calmer route and working out on my own to properly adjust but I will most likely engage in club sports within the next few years as I sometimes miss the competitiveness.
Currently at Duke, I work as an East Campus Wellness Advocate for the Wellness Center. I aid in maintaining the Oasis relaxation space on East Campus and run a weekly Moment of Mindfulness. Currently, along with my coworker, we run the MoM “Coffee and Coloring” to offer students time in the week when they can relax with their choice of coffee or tea and coloring sheets. Additionally, I plan to get involved in the Black Student Alliance, the Women’s Center, the Psychology Majors Union, and possibly other organizations that spark my interest during my time here.
I’m thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful and diverse community! I’m so grateful I get to call myself a Baldwin Scholar!
Feel free to reach out to my email about anything at all!!
