Hi all! My name is Chloe Nguyen. I am so excited and grateful to be a part of the Baldwin family, and I can’t wait for the next couple of years!
I’ve lived in Las Vegas, NV, my whole life, with my mom, dad and brother. We have two dogs—Luna and Ace—who make my existence complete. I am beyond grateful to my parents for paving the way for me to be able to attend Duke today and teaching me to work hard and persevere against the odds.
Most of my life—up until high school—was defined by dance. I danced 25-30 hours a week and can definitely say that dance has shaped who I am today. It instilled in me the importance of forming community, working as a team, and giving 100% of myself to the projects I’m involved in.
In high school, I could no longer dance, and I joined the debate team. By teaching me about inequalities, international relations, and policy, debate introduced me to realities I had never experienced, and taught me to be empathetic, open minded, and innovative.
These traits manifested themselves in my passion for advocacy and service. While at Duke, I have worked for a political campaign, written for The Chronicle, and am beginning to create a service club dedicated to fighting mass incarceration and serving justice-involved folks. I hope to study Public Policy and Psychology in order to understand how our behaviors influence our understandings of criminality, addiction, implicit bias, and political polarization.
Outside of school, I love hockey (Go Knights!), cooking, exercising, and playing with my dogs. I am so excited to experience all that Duke has to offer with the Baldwin family!!
