Hello! My name is Chandler Phillips and I am from Lawrenceville, GA. Raised in the Soth, I continually witnessed the triumphs and struggles of black women, which sparked my fervor for social justice. I am so blessed for all of the opportunities Duke has provided me, including the Baldwin Scholarship, Robertson Scholarship and Full Frame Film Fellowship. Last year, in lieu of Eric Garner and Mike Brown’s murders, 4 students, myself included, organized a rally/”die-in” and built Student Activists for Equality, a coalition of nearly 300 students, dedicated to intersectional justice through education and action. Currently, I'm on the executive boards for the NAACP, Center for Race Relations and I am teaching a house course on intersectional marginalization. While still undecided, I plan on majoring in Sociology and mnoring in Education (LOVE working with youth). I love watching movies, writing poetry, documentary studies, and spending time with family and friends. If you're still reading, thanks for taking the time to learn about me. I'd love to learn more about you and help you out in anyway possible. If you want to talk, you can email me at cnp11@duke.edu.
