Hi! My name is Cesi Bosch. I would like to start by expressing my gratitude to the Baldwin Scholars Program. It is humbling to be a member of such a strong and inspiring collection of women.

I was born in Connecticut but moved to Geneva, Switzerland when I was two. I lived there for ten years and enjoyed quite the idyllic Swiss experience: a lot of hiking, fondue eating, and most importantly, chocolate. When I was twelve, I went to an all girls’ boarding school in England. At Wycombe I was involved in choirs and theatre and I held various leadership positions. I was a Prefect during my junior and some of my senior year (which prompts my American friends to ask if my school was like Hogwarts- sadly we did not have an Owl Postal Service). I look back on my 6 years at Wycombe Abbey with gratitude and fondness. The friendships I made have provided me with countless belly-ache-causing laughs and still keep me going when things get tough. Leaving Wycombe, I took away some beautiful memories, a drive to succeed academically, but also an academic curiosity which I hope to carry with me throughout my Duke career and beyond.

After graduating from high school, I took a gap year to work and travel. I spent nine months working at the Royal Court Theatre in London which allowed me to truly take advantage of the city’s unparalleled thespian culture. I was able to watch dozens of plays and interact with a truly brilliant group of people. I then jumped on a plane headed to Quito, Ecuador with a friend to begin our backpacking adventure. Together we visited Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and finally finished our trip in Buenos Aires, Argentina, just in time to start Duke in August.

Since arriving I’ve tried to be as involved in the Duke experience as possible. I joined the Hoof ‘n’ Horn musical society for their winter show The Mystery of Edwin Drood, have become a campus tour guide, am a member of a sorority, will be performing in the All Of The Above Monologues and am getting ready to camp out in K-Ville to cheer on our Blue Devils in March. I am so excited to get to know my fellow Baldwins and I cannot wait to see what the next four years have in store for us!
