Originally from Compton, CA, Ashley Terrell received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Duke University in 2012, majoring in Public Policy Studies, minoring in Women's Studies, and also receiving a certificate in Health Policy. Her career interests are deep within the Health Sector Management arena, with specific interests in medical device sales and marketing as well as health policy and healthcare consulting.
While at Duke, Ashley graduated with distinction for the completion of a senior honors thesis in Health Policy and participated in a global study abroad experience where she traveled to China and India for six months to study international development and health policy at Peking University and Vidya Bhawan Institute. Throughout her academic years, Ashley maintained extensive involvement in the Women’s Mentoring Network, her campus career center as a Diversity Ambassador, and the Baldwin Scholars program, a selective honors organization for female campus leaders, all while continuing to perform academically.
Prior to graduation, Ashley spent her summer months holding research internships at the National Institutes of Health and UCLA’s School of Medicine. She spent her last two summers as a medical device marketing and business insights intern at Bausch & Lomb Surgical, an internship opportunity she received through her active relationship as a scholar in the South Central Scholars program. Upon graduation, Ashley completed Yale School of Management’s Global PreMBA Leadership program, a highly selective three-week business and management skills program, which immerses recent graduates with the structure of an MBA curriculum by taking introductory courses in data analysis, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, strategy, and leadership style modeling.
Immediately thereafter, Ashley began working as a Sales and Marketing Associate for KARL STORZ Endoscopy America (KSEA), a medical device company based out of Los Angeles, CA. She is the first of two chosen to pilot KSEA’s Accelerated Career Training (ACT) program, a three-year rotational development track initiated to recruit, develop, and retain high-potential management talent. She spent her first six months of the program learning the base business, completing professional education/ product knowledge training and rotating through several internal departments including Customer Support, Accounting/Finance, Operations, Strategic Planning, R&D, and Legal. Ashley was offered the opportunity to relocate to Research Triangle Park, NC for one year to complete her Sales rotation with the Duke/Raleigh sales force. In January, she begins complete a yearlong rotation in Marketing and another six month rotation in the company’s OR-1 Medical Integration Division thereafter.
Ashley is currently enrolled in the Riordan MBA Fellowship program, a pre-MBA development program sponsored by the UCLA Anderson School of Management. In the future, Ashley plans to pursue an MBA with specific interests in Health Sector Management and Marketing. She hopes to pursue a management career in healthcare consulting, serving health organizations, government agencies/institutions, and non-profit organizations.
In her spare time, she maintains involvement in academic mentorship programs, speaking at outreach events as well as mentoring and reading college essays for high school students in the UCLA Business Scholars program, the College Placement Project, and South Central Scholars. During election season, she devotes her time to volunteering for political campaign initiatives, and she works to improve her proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and Hindi, both languages she has “survival knowledge” of from studying abroad.

Ashley lives by the following saying she heard in a news interview with Elizabeth Edwards during her first week at Duke University: ~"Ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything- That's how the light gets in."~
