Hi! My name is Annie Zwally, and I am so excited and honored to be a member of the Baldwin Scholars community!

I live in Westfield, NJ, which is about 20 miles outside NYC. I am one of three children with an older brother who is one of my best friends and biggest cheerleaders, and a younger brother who matches my energy and can always make me laugh. I am so grateful for my entire family, as they have been my rock and supported me in all my endeavors. When not in Westfield, you can find us on the Jersey shore, which is one of my favorite places on Earth.

My plan is to major in Biology or Neuroscience on the pre-med track. I have always been extremely passionate about science and have wanted to be a doctor since I was in kindergarten. My favorite show when I was growing up was Doc McStuffins. My mom would find me treating and bandaging up all my stuffed animals as a young child and my passion for medicine has never wavered. Additionally, since Huntington’s Disease runs in my family, I am extremely interested in genetics, and I am on the board of NJ Cure HD which raises funds for Huntington’s Disease research. I would love to use my education to help this special community as they desperately need it.

In my free time, I love to swim and have been a competitive swimmer since I was six. I enjoy baking, surfing, and reading books. I am a lifeguard, and a proud member of the Westfield Rescue Squad. On campus, I am involved in Duke EMS, Duke Club Swim, and Mission Brain.

I am looking forward to learning and growing alongside my amazing cohort!
