A native of Nashville, TN, I have thoroughly enjoyed my freshman year at Duke. I am a pre-med student of Trinity College and plan to major in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy. As a Howard Hughes Summer Research Fellow, I am excited to be working with Dr. Daniel Schmitt to study primate locomotion.

Duke has offered many venues for student involvement in the community. During my freshman year, I served as a House Council member for my dorm and as a first-year representative for the Duke Community Service Center. My volunteering experiences at the Duke Hospital have also been very rewarding.

As a student of the classical Indian arts of Bharatanatyam dance and Carnatic music, the process of preparing for my arangetram (solo dance debut) in the fall of 2004 was a memorable experience for me. I feel fortunate to be able to pursue these interests at Duke and in the greater Durham area.

I am proud to be part of this diverse group of Baldwin Scholars, and I am confident that we will exert a positive influence on the Duke community. I am lucky to have strong female mentors in my life, and I hope to serve in the same capacity through my involvement in the Baldwin Scholars program.
