I was drawn to Baldwin by the strength and compassion from each incredible woman in the program. I saw them as leaders on campus and women who were confident in speaking up to create positive change both on campus and in the world. It is now a humbling privledge to be a member of this inspiring collection of women!
I am a Public Policy major with a minor in Education and certificate in Documentary Studies. Studying the inequities that exist within the American school system has shown me a great need for reform. I also believe in the power of the lens to expose vulnerability and the tell stories of others, ultimately building human empathy. I'm involved with Class Council, currently serving as the Vice President for the sophomore class and I also tutor elementary students at George Watts Montessori.
I find joy through running, poetry, photography, traveling and by simply being in nature!
A tree cannot produce fruit if it is not rooted, and that's why I'm so grateful to be a part of the Baldwin family. It’s a beautiful thing to work, live and grow in deep community with women who are so different than me. Baldwin has taught me to step out with courage and boldly lean into leadership at Duke.
I'd love to talk with you, learn about you and answer any questions you have about the Baldwin program! Please reach out to me at amir.williams@duke.edu.
