I came to Duke from the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, GA. While at Duke, I majored in English and was a member of Lady Blue (a cappella group) and the Executive Board of the Panhellenic Association. I also tutored in Durham public schools and as an Undergraduate Writing Tutor for Duke. During my summers, I participated in the Duke-Durham Scholars Program, studied abroad at Oxford, and interned for Global Concepts, a subsidiary of McKinsey. After graduation, I worked as a Human Capital Analyst for Deloitte Consulting 2008-2010. I earned a master’s degree (2013) and PhD (2017) in sociology at Stanford University. My research examines organizational policies and practices that may inadvertently create or reinforce gender inequality. In particular, I study recruiting practices, perceptions of cultural fit, flexibility programs, and gender equality initiatives in industries such as technology, management consulting, and academic medicine. I am currently a Senior Research Scholar with the Stanford VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab.
