Hey, heyy! My name is Alba, and I am thrilled to be part of the Baldwin Scholars in the class of 2028. First, a little bit about myself. I moved around quite a bit as a child and lived in England, the US, Germany, and Spain. I have also grown up with strong female role models that have made me who I am today. For example, my grandmother, an astrophysicist and one of the first women in the European Space Agency, still reminds me how far we can get. Or my three sisters, who teach me compassion every day.
Now a bit about my hobbies. I used to spend most of my time with Modern Pentathlon, a sport that combines fencing, show jumping, swimming, running, and shooting. As part of the Spanish national team, I mentored younger girls in this male-dominated sport, which taught me the value of leadership and supporting others. At Duke, running has stuck, so let me know if you want a running partner! I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, but the easiest way to make me happy is with insomnia cookies with ice cream.
I look forward to getting to know everyone and am excited about all the doors that Baldwin Scholars will open!
