Ahsha Merson Haggart is a member of the Class of 2009 Baldwin Scholars.  Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, she graduated from Duke with degrees in Economics and Philosophy.  Today, she is a Partner at Sixth Street, a global alternative investment firm, and is Co-Head of the Capital Formation and Strategy team.  Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2015, Ahsha was a private equity investor with TPG Capital. She also held an operating role at Carbon, a digital manufacturing company, and began her career at Morgan Stanley in their Mergers & Acquisitions group. 

Ahsha lives in San Francisco with her husband and two young children.  She is on the board emeritus of JUMA Ventures and the board of Lone Mountain Children's Center.

Her advice to Duke first-year women is to dive into the full breadth of what Duke offers across academics, the arts, athletics, and extracurriculars.  Life after university will demand that you specialize, but freshman year is a unique chance to try new things and establish friendships with people who are different than you who will help you grow and stretch over time.
