My name is Katie Wear and I am from Vail, Colorado. I love to ski, snowboard, travel, cook and spend time outdoors.
I majored in Public Policy and minored in Visual Arts. I spent the fall semester of my junior year studying abroad in Florence, Italy and studying art. I had a marketing internship with Fossil in Hong Kong after my sophomore year. I worked for a nonprofit organization called Global Action the summer before my senior year. I spent most of the summer with the organization in Tanzania setting up a micronutrient fortification program for malnourished children.
I graduated from Duke this past May. I moved back to Vail, Colorado where I am working as an associate for NavarroLowrey, a real estate development firm, and I will focus on marketing, public relations, and sustainable development initiatives. I hope to go back to school in a couple years to get my MBA and possibly my Law Degree.
The Baldwin Scholars Program has been a crucial part of my college experience. I joined the Baldwin Scholars program because I wanted to have the opportunity to develop my leadership skills as a woman. Through the program I have been able to learn, live, and form friendships with a group of smart, driven, and diverse females. The seminars, the retreats, the weekly meetings, the conferences, the dinners with professional women and professors, and finally the social gatherings with the Baldwins all contributed to my growth as an individual, a female, and a professional. I would recommend this program to every female entering Duke!
