I’m from Metairie, La., a suburb of New Orleans, where I have lived my whole life. Here at Duke, my interests are somewhat varied; I love everything from Biology to Art History to Classical Studies. I look forward to taking advantage of the huge array of study topics offered at Duke in the next few years. I also hope to study abroad, perhaps in Greece.
In high school, I acted in a few musicals, which had a huge impact on my life. For the first time, I was forced to learn a little about leadership. I was also in chorus—I love to sing. Other interests are reading, dance, and music of all types. During the past several summers I have worked as an instructor at a day camp in New Orleans, teaching kids lampworking, or small-scale glass working using a table-mounted torch, an art that I love.
I am incredibly proud to be a part of the Baldwin family. In joining, I hoped to find a group of intelligent, passionate, and warm women, and that is exactly what I found. I look forward to exploring the opportunities awarded by the challenging and supportive environment of the Baldwin Scholars program.
