Duke University | Baldwin Scholars Program

Kelley Akhiemokhali

After Duke, I began teaching English Language Arts to middle school and high school students in NYC. In 2011 and 2012, I received National Endowment for the Humanities teacher study grants. One summer I studied Latino Identity in New York at Hunter College. The next summer I studied The Great Migration at The University of South Carolina.

In July 2013, I moved to Valencia, Venezuela in order to teach 7th grade English and Social Studies.  As of 2015, I've been teaching middle school English in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I blog about my experience at immigratingwithapurpose.com.
