My name is Cydney and I'm a graduate student at the Fuqua School of Business this year. I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Management Studies (MMS) program and in May, I can officially call myself a Master. I'm just kidding, I won't really be a master of all things business, but I will be well-equipped with enough knowledge to ensure my success in the business world. You're probably wondering what I'm planning on doing next year, well your guess is about as good as mine. I am currently exploring a variety of different careers in retail, publishing, marketing, pr, or maybe even professional running. While some people may stressed about not having a definite plan for next year, I am exhilarated by all the potential options and directions my life may take me. While I have loved my time at Duke, I'm definitely looking forward to taking all the lessons I've learned at Duke and all the friends I've gained along the way into the real world where I can finally spread my wings. Ok here is some basic information about my life at Duke.
I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, home to Nelly, the Gateway to the West (the Arch) and the best frozen custard in the world Ted Drewes. I am on the varsity cross country and track team here at Duke, and I absolutely love it. I also absolutely love Baldwin Scholars. As a student-athlete, I don't really have that many close friends outside of my team, except for my Baldwins. I am blessed with the opportunity to get to know these wonderful women at Duke and I am amazed with the passion each and every one of us exhibits towards some aspect of Duke life. Through our involvement on campus as an organization and the other organizations that reach out to Baldwin Scholars, I have found many important and interesting ways to make a difference on Duke's campus. As a graduate of an all-girls high school, I instantly missed the closeness I felt with my high school class at Duke. Baldwin Scholars more than filled my desire for a core group of girl friends and I have met some girls that I may have never crossed paths with at Duke.
But enough with the boring stuff, here's some of the juicier stuff about me. Ok, there actually aren't really many juicy details about my life, I'm actually pretty boring most of the time. But I do have a huge passion for women's issues, fitness, and politics. I'm an NPR, news, and Twitter addict. I swear the best part of everyday is my cup (or cups) of coffee in the morning. I have a laugh that can be heard halfway across campus and I LOVE to laugh; you can count on me to laugh at all your corny jokes. Almost every athletic piece of clothing I own is Nike. I love all sweets, but I can eat donuts and cheesecake anywhere, anytime, anyplace.
That’s a little bit about me, but please feel free to email me if you have any questions about Baldwin or Duke or being a student-athlete or the MMS program at Fuqua.
