Henry Friedman

James B. Powell, Jr. Professor of Neuro-Oncology

Henry S. Friedman is the James B. Powell, Jr. Professor of Neuro-Oncology at Duke University Medical Center.  He is internationally recognized for his work as an educator, clinician, and laboratory/clinical investigator in both pediatric and adult brain and spinal cord tumors.  He received his MD from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York in May of 1977 and stayed at that institution for pediatric and pediatric hematology-oncology training.  He trained in neuro-oncology at Duke University Medical Center and joined the faculty at that institution in 1983.  He has published over 350 articles in peer reviewed professional journals.  He currently serves as the Deputy Director of The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.  Dr. Friedman is the Founder and Director of CAPE, the Collegiate Athlete Pre-Medical Experience, and serves on the Baldwin Scholars Advisory Board.
