Class of 2010

Hi everyone. My name is Danielle Brewington. I am a Durham native, psychology major and also interested in pre-med. Academically my goals are pretty simple. I am working towards a B.S. in Psychology, with a focus in personality studies. I am also really interested in biology and biological anthropology and anatomy at Duke. I hope to be a surgeon one day, so anatomy and the human body are my main interests in biology. Outside of science I am interested in just about everything else. I’m really interested in ethics and ethical issues, religion, politics, and languages. I have studied Spanish my entire life, but now that I’ve reached a level of proficiency I would like to turn my interests to French and eventually Mandarin.  I love to learn, so you may see me reading a book that has nothing to do with my classes- if I can find the time.
Outside of class I stay pretty busy. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Duke University Equestrian team. In the past I was also a member of the On Tap dance group on campus. I mentor elementary school girls on the weekends through the Future Is Now program and I usually try to tutor elementary school children through a service learning class. Since I’ve come to Duke I’ve had a couple of jobs and one internship. I currently work at the  Perkins Library Circulation desk during the day, so I’m the girl to find if you want to check out books. My freshman year I participated in the First Year Apprenticeship Program where I worked with the Career Center, which is one of the best things I’ve done at Duke so far.
My freshman year I lived in Epworth dorm-best dorm on east-which I and all of my friends wish we could move to west campus. So anyone who wants to discuss Epworth love should feel free to contact me at any time. Before I came to Duke, I went to the North Carolina School of Science and Math, where I lived for two years. I have lived in Durham since the age of 6 and have been a Duke basketball fan forever. I started riding horses in 4th grade and also played basketball in high school. I love to help people and give advice so feel free to contact with any questions about Baldwin or anything else.
